Mt Vernon Lodge

Mt Vernon Lodge sits in the hills behind Akaroa on Banks Peninsula, looking out over the harbour below. Couples can marry on the private estate lawns with the water as a backdrop, then move into the reception hall which seats up to 130 guests. The lodge leans into the stay-a-while idea. A spread of rooms, chalets and cottages sleeps around 50 people, so the wedding party and close family can bunk down on site rather than driving back over the hill after dark. Catering is flexible. Couples can bring in their own caterer or self-cater using the commercial kitchen, and it is a BYO venue with no corkage charged. That keeps the day relaxed and keeps costs in the couple's hands.
