Okurukuru

Okurukuru is a coastal winery on Surf Highway 45, about fifteen minutes south of New Plymouth on the road out to Oakura. The vines run down towards the Tasman and the terrace looks along the coast from Cape Egmont round to the city, which is the main reason couples book it for a wedding. The function centre has two indoor rooms, the Barrel Room for up to 120 and the smaller Tasman Room for up to 20, which can be hired on their own or opened up together. A private lawn and terrace overlook the vineyard for the ceremony and for drinks between courses. Room hire starts at $350 a day. Food and wine are handled on site through the vineyard restaurant, with Okurukuru's own wines poured alongside a fully licensed bar. The venue books out months ahead over the wedding season. Accommodation is a short walk across the property, with two luxury suites and six studio chalets sleeping around eighteen between them, plus late checkouts on the morning after. It suits couples after a coastal winery setting with the whole day in one place.
