Poverty Bay Wedding Venue

The Poverty Bay Wedding Venue sits within Showgrounds Park at Makaraka, run by the Poverty Bay A&P Association. The wedding spot is set in the wine and food area, with a purpose-built aisle that gives couples privacy and some shelter from the Gisborne wind. Receptions move into the event centre, which has around 1200 square metres of flexible indoor space and can seat well over 200. For bigger guest lists the Farmers Air Event Centre holds up to 1000, making it one of the few places in the district set up for a really large wedding. The grounds do the heavy lifting for photos, with established trees and rustic backdrops across the park, plus easy parking and plenty of room. Catering is BYO, so you hire the space and bring your own caterer and drinks. It suits couples who want to build their day from the ground up without a fixed package.
