Black Walnut Venue

Black Walnut is a boutique wedding venue in the rural Pahoia and Te Puna area west of Tauranga, set on about five acres among towering black walnut trees, mature gardens and a kiwifruit orchard. It runs as a dedicated wedding and events property rather than a working farm or restaurant. Ceremonies can be held outdoors in the grounds or at the venue's tree church, with a glasshouse on hand as a wet weather option. Receptions move into the black barn, which has a commercial kitchen alongside for caterers. The venue hosts one wedding at a time, with exclusive use for up to 100 guests. Catering is external. You bring the caterer of your choice and they work from the on-site kitchen, while a refreshment area is set up in the barn. There is no accommodation on the property, though there are bed and breakfast and boutique options nearby. Black Walnut was named Outstanding Emerging Wedding Business at the 2025 New Zealand Wedding Industry Awards. Viewings are by appointment. It suits couples after a private garden and barn wedding close to Tauranga.
