The Playhouse Cafe and Theatre

The Playhouse is a theatre, cafe and wedding venue on Westdale Road at Richmond, just off the coastal highway near Mapua. It is a genuine one off, with a grotto styled interior hand crafted by artist John Gozney and gardens with ponds out the front for the ceremony. Couples hire the whole place. It seats up to 120 guests and comes with the tables, chairs, crockery, glassware, a stage and a full PA system, so the room is ready to go. Ceremonies run outdoors in the garden then move inside for the reception. The team does full catering and a bar in house, or you can take the venue on a dry hire and bring your own caterer. They do not sell set packages. Instead they sit down with each couple and build the day around what they actually want. It is a warm, slightly theatrical setting for couples who would rather have character than a blank hall.
