Gear Homestead

Gear Homestead is a restored heritage homestead at Aotea in Porirua, just north of Wellington, set on four hectares of gardened grounds with sea views. It combines the charm of an older house with a modern function fit out and bar. The whole homestead is hired for weddings, giving couples the run of the place. The upstairs dining room seats up to 80 guests, and larger celebrations can spill onto the lawns under a marquee among the rose gardens and historic pines. The grounds double as a setting for ceremonies and photographs. Catering is provided in house through a partnership with In House Catering, built around seasonal produce. Venue hire runs from $2,000 for a midday to midnight booking. There is no accommodation on site.
