Clos Henri Vineyard

Clos Henri is a Marlborough vineyard farmed organically by the Henri Bourgeois family, winegrowers from Sancerre in France's Loire Valley. Its wedding drawcard is the Sainte Solange chapel, a little country church built in the 1920s in the village of Ward, moved onto the vineyard in 2003 and restored in native rimu with a steeple that nods to the family's home village of Chavignol. The chapel now doubles as the cellar door and a wedding venue, holding somewhere around 60 to 70 people. It suits everything from an elopement or a simple ceremony through to a fuller ceremony and celebration, all wrapped in vineyard rows with the hills beyond. This is a boutique arrangement rather than a busy function centre. The vineyard hosts only a small number of weddings each year, so the setting stays personal and the day is unhurried.
