Mistletoe Bay Eco Village
Mistletoe Bay is a not-for-profit eco village in the sheltered waters of Onahau Bay in Queen Charlotte Sound, run with a focus on conservation and sustainability. Couples can marry on the grassy waterfront, out on the jetty over the bay or inside the purpose-built function room, which opens through sliding doors onto a big veranda and keeps warm with a log burner and heat pump. The function room seats up to 70, and there is room to put up a marquee or tipi if you want the celebration under canvas. Catering is refreshingly flexible: you can lay on a picnic or a barbecue, self-cater or bring in professional caterers to serve in the function room. Guests can stay on site across the cabins, the Vogel Cottage and camping and campervan sites, and the whole village can be booked out for the wedding party. It is an easy drive in off Queen Charlotte Drive between Picton and Havelock, which sets it apart from the boat-only spots deeper in the Sounds.
