Heritage Village Wedding Venue Minutes From Central Nelson
Founders Heritage Park
Founders Heritage Park recreates Nelson's early days as a village of heritage buildings, gardens and a working railway on Atawhai Drive, a few minutes from the city centre. For weddings there are five spaces for hire, from Old St Peter's Church, which takes up to 70 for a ceremony, through to the park's larger halls. The Granary is the favourite for receptions: a heritage building with a polished wooden floor, grand pillars, an antique bar and a full commercial kitchen. It seats 150 for dinner and holds 290 cocktail or theatre style, with room to hang fairy lights and spill out onto the green. The Energy Centre, built from the city's former gasometers, suits bigger events, and the Jaycee Room works for smaller gatherings. Full park wedding hire reserves all the buildings and grounds so you are not sharing with any other function. The park is run by Nelson City Council and bookings go through the park office.
