The Boathouse

The Boathouse is a 1906 heritage hall on Wakefield Quay, owned and restored by the community society formed to save it. The main hall opens through folding doors onto a promenade deck over the water, with views across Nelson Haven and Tasman Bay to the Mt Arthur skyline. The hall seats 130 for a meal, takes 160 theatre style and 180 for a cocktail function. Hire includes tables and chairs, deck furniture, a stage, a PA system and a gas barbecue, with a commercial kitchen behind the scenes and heating for cooler months. The in-house team of function managers, chefs and service staff covers catering, and the venue's licensed bar handles all alcohol service. Published hire rates run from $500 for a midweek evening to $2,450 for a Saturday, GST inclusive, with a 25 per cent Saturday discount through winter.
